Michael Eder
A lifetime shaped by building
BAVARIA, GERMANY
Early influence · Fine finishing carpentry · Joinery · Curtain wall systems · Landscaping
Michael's story with construction began early. Raised in Bavaria, a region known for its craftsmanship and work ethic, he was design-minded from the start, spending his childhood building structures in the forests and quarries near his home.
His father, Anton, a homebuilder and well-known landscape designer, encouraged that instinct. While completing his degree in joinery, Michael learned fine finishing carpentry and high-precision millwork, where tolerances are measured in millimetres and every joint shows.
Alongside his training, he worked with his father reviewing landscape plans and building landscapes from the ground up. Anton taught him about design and how to create interest in a space, and Michael learned to physically shape and install what was drawn. Between the workshop and the landscape, he learned to think in assemblies: how each piece is made, how it connects to the next, and the order in which it all has to come together.
His early training also included fabricating and installing wood-aluminum curtain wall systems. That work gave him a hands-on understanding of how glazing, structure, and weatherproofing come together, and how precise the detailing has to be for a building to perform.
EXPERIENCE AND GROWTH
BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
Since 2008 · High-end residential construction · Site leadership · Building envelope
A working holiday brought Michael to Vancouver, where he met his wife. In 2008, he made the move permanent.
Since then, he has worked as a site superintendent with some of Vancouver's premier builders, on extraordinary homes built with the highest quality materials and finishes. Over time, his work has moved toward the most demanding side of the industry: complex renovations of established homes, and projects that others could not bring to completion.
Throughout, he has built a comprehensive understanding of building envelope detailing: the transitions, membranes, flashings, and assemblies that keep a home dry, efficient, and durable. On the West Coast, this is where many of the most costly problems begin, and where careful detailing matters most.
That experience taught him that success in construction takes more than knowing how to build. It requires communication, organization, problem-solving, and the ability to see the details others may overlook. Every project has reinforced the same principles: do the work properly, communicate clearly, and take responsibility for every detail.
Today
Today, Michael leads Mischka Group, a boutique residential construction practice. We take on a limited number of projects at a time, so each one has Michael's direct involvement from start to finish. Our work centres on high-end renovations, rescue projects, and new construction management for high-value homes where precision, discretion, and trust are essential. What we provide above all is certainty.
That certainty comes from a millworker's mindset applied to the whole project. The precision that joinery demands doesn't stop at the cabinetry. It starts with the framing, carries through the envelope and rough-ins, and runs all the way to the final finishes. When every layer is built square, true, and in the right sequence, the finished work fits the way it was designed to, without compromise at the end.
Renovation is where certainty is hardest to earn. Working within an existing home can be just as demanding as building new. Every decision has to respect the original structure, existing finishes, surrounding spaces, and the way the home is lived in. We understand the home before we change it, from the envelope inward and from the client's perspective: how they move through each space and how it will be used day to day. We then coordinate the moving pieces and solve problems as they arise, so that surprises are found early, not paid for late.
Our work extends well beyond a single project. We take on complex renovations, multi-phase projects, and ongoing property improvements for clients who want a trusted partner who understands their home and cares for it over time.
Rescue Projects
Some of our most important work starts in the middle. Michael has taken over multiple rescue projects: homes where the original builder fell behind, costs climbed far beyond the budget, or the work on site no longer matched what was promised. In each case, what the homeowner had lost was certainty.
Restoring it requires a clear head and a disciplined process. We start by assessing where things truly stand: the quality of the work completed, the integrity of the envelope and hidden assemblies, the real cost to finish, and what needs to be corrected. From there, we set a realistic path forward with a clear budget and schedule, reorganize the trades, and bring the project back under control, so the homeowner knows exactly what it will take to finish, and that it will be finished properly.
Ongoing Care
For clients who require it, our relationship continues long after the work is complete. Our estate maintenance services provide a single, trusted point of contact to manage, preserve, and oversee the property.
From routine maintenance to larger repairs and improvements, we make sure every system, finish, and detail of the home remains at the standard it was built to.
The homes we work on are private environments, and we treat them accordingly.
Discretion and confidentiality are fundamental to how we operate. Where required, projects are carried out under strict confidentiality protocols: comprehensive NDAs, controlled subcontractor access, no-photography policies, and restrictions on social media and public disclosure. Our crew maintains a professional, low-profile presence, and a respectful approach to the surrounding property.
We showcase select projects to demonstrate our capabilities, but never disclose client identities, locations, or personal details without the client's permission.
Our role is simple: deliver certainty, act in our clients' best interests, protect their privacy, and remain quietly reliable in the background.
